CBBoD

CBBoD stands for the CritBuns Board of Designers, and is a collaborative of creative individuals purposed with developing the CritBuns brand. Comprised of Joe Gebbia, Ada Ko and Evan Twyford, the CBBoD focuses on creating new products, site features, and services. Their aim is to bring concepts to life much in the same way CritBuns evolved. The list is long; stay tuned for the next product out the door.

Joe / design lead.sales

A recent west coast transplant from Atlanta by way of Providence, Joe mans the helm as founder and creative director of Critbuns. He started his first business at the tender age of 14, mowing lawns in his neighborhood (he still longs for the smell of fresh cut grass). Years later, he gets fired up by leading brainstorms and design team collaborations. He recently put his RISD ID/GD degrees to good use at Chronicle Books in San Francisco, where he led their brand new Industrial Design Department, developing packaging, graphics, and product concepts. Prior to that, he interned at ITEM New Product Development and freelanced at Kaiju Studios, completing work for corporate clients like Intel, Staples, and LG Electronics. Joe lives and works in San Francisco, CA, USA.

Inspirational place: Hardware stores. Any room with a working piano.

Ada / strategy.design

Ada graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from RISD, where she spent most of her waking life covered in residue from porcelain clay, plaster, silver filings, yellow foam, metal grease and sawdust. Apparently it was awesome. After an internship at Proteus Design in Boston and freelance design at Kaiju Studios in Providence, Ada relocated to Cincinnati, where she is currently a design manager for Pampers at Procter&Gamble. She dreams of designing "the next-generation eco-friendly high performance Tesla roadster of the diaper world," for the "ultimate feel-good consumer pooping experience." Hear, hear. In the CBBoD, Ada likes to strategize, draw charts and help bring new products to life.

Good design: Muji products
Inspirational place: Farmers markets. Target.

Evan / new concepts.human factors

Evan lived in Alaska, Scotland and Houston before attending RISD, graduating with a degree in Industrial Design. Problem-solving and prototyping skills come naturally, honed by hundreds of hours of quality time spent in the school's metal shop working with materials and machinery. He handles the CNC machine with incredible speed and prowess, which may be partially due to the vitamin-enriched energy drinks he loves so much. He has been entrusted with classified information starting from an early age - his first summer job out of high school was spent shredding ENRON's sensitive documents. Now he works at NASA, creating systems to sustain life in extreme environments as an Aerospace Architect at the Johnson Space Center. In the CBBoD, Evan provides down-to-earth marketing strategy and product development expertise, envisioning and bringing to life CritBuns products of tomorrow and beyond. Astronauts have to sit too, right?
